Boss Power System Overview
Season 8 unleashes Boss Powers — a new system that lets you channel the strength of Sanctuary's deadliest monsters and turn it into build-defining upgrades that push your character even further.
There are 24 Boss Powers: 5 Legendary, 9 Rare, and 10 Magic Powers. You can simultaneously equip up to 4 Boss Powers: 1 Main Power slot and 3 Power Modifier slots. Each Boss Power gives different bonuses depending on if you put it in your Main Power slot or one of your Modifier slots, giving you a variety of ways to strengthen your character.
To unlock Boss Powers, you will need to take down specific bosses scattered across Sanctuary:
- Legendary Powers are earned the first time you defeat the game's top bosses: Andariel, Belial, Duriel, Harbinger of Hatred, and Lilith. These encounters are only available on Torment difficulty or higher.
- Rare Powers come from Lair Bosses, World Bosses, or Belial's lesser form. Lair Bosses and Belial's lesser form also require Torment difficulty, while World Bosses can be fought at any level.
- Magic Powers are the easiest to collect. Beat Apparition Incursion Bosses on any difficulty to claim them.
Once unlocked, Boss Powers are shared across all your seasonal characters, letting you experiment without losing progress. You can also upgrade your Powers using Spectral Ash — a seasonal currency earned by participating in Apparition Incursions.
Boss Powers gives you new ways to fine-tune your build and dominate the battlefield, whether you're aiming for faster clears, higher survivability, or sharper crowd control.
